Burek, 30, is a brand ambassador, model and background actor in TV series like “Marvelous Ms. Maisel”, “Pretty Little Liars”, “A Journal for Jordan” and “Instinct" that are filmed in New York. He also owns and operates The Color Crew NYC @thecolorcrew_nyc, a private party outfit with magicians, balloon twisting and face painting in and around Greater New York and New Jersey.
The 2013 North Eugene High School graduate wrote/directed and shot the micro-budget high-definition narrative entirely in Brooklyn and Queens, where he has lived since graduating in 2017 from Manhattanville College with a BA in Theater.
“Creatively speaking, I wrote this with the main character struggling in her creative process. I’ve felt that struggle. As a millennial, I know myself and others are trying to get unstuck from what seems like a neverending decade of political turmoil and economic uncertainty. I tried to capture the inner voice that can grip someone when they try to break free from these demons.”
“The title reads serious but there’s a little humor in it too. I’ve submitted “Veil of Sadness” mostly to short film festivals in the horror and dark comedy categories,” said Burek. Off off-Broadway, his one-hour Expressionist Dream Play “Megan’s Nightmare” was recently well-received at a staged reading in Brooklyn.
Burek grew up in Chicago, Illinois and Eugene, Oregon. There, he was cast in local productions with the Oregon Ballet Academy, All That! Dance Company and Free Shakespeare in the Park. He was a varsity high school swimmer and water polo player. Burek is fluent and literate in Japanese.
